Monday: Geography of China
Objective: Learn the physical and political geography of China
Due:
Class: Prepare for 3rd quarter and new chapter (passes, seats, objective), map of China, read and vocabulary 7.1
Homework: Finish map, read 7.1 and complete vocabulary

Tuesday: 7.1 "China's First Civilization"
Objective: Discuss how river valleys. mountains, and deserts influenced the development of Chinese civilization
Due: Map and vocabulary
Class: Read and Fill in Shang and Zhoe Dynasty chart (Pair and Share), Wrap up quiz
Homework: Read 7.2

Thursday: 7.2 "Life in Ancient China"
Objective: Discuss how the lack of order encouraged the growth of three important belief systems
Due:
Class: 7.2 Worksheet (social class chart, filial piety discussion, Chinese philosophies flyer)
Homework: Finish flyer, Read 7.3

Friday: 7.3 "The Qin and Han Dynasties"
Objective: Summarize the ruling philosophies, accomplishments, and failures of the Qin dynasties.
Due: flyers (7.2 worksheet)
Class: 7.3 Handout (Qin Shihuangdi power as a ruler discussion, Great Wall discussion and mapping) Week in Rap current event, Participation Rubric (peer)
Homework: start studying for Tuesday test (remember study group at 8:15 on Tuesday morning).

Monday: 8.1 "Declaring Independence"
Objective: Learn why the Second Continental Congress is considered to be the first government of the colonies and how the Declaration of Independence divided the nation.

Class: Review road to the revolution, Second Continental Congress discussion, Negative/ Positive Army Chart, Declaring Independence

Tuesday: "Declaration of Independence"
Objective: Learn the major parts and the reason for declaring independence

Class: Read and discuss the Declaration of Independence, make organizer, watch video clips, Declaration of Independence Video Link
Homework: Thomas Paine extra credit reading, check out Congress for Kids Congress for Kids site for more on the Declaration of Independence (view it and tell me about it for extra credit). Study for Declaration of Independence quiz

Thursday: 8.2 "The Colonies at War"
Objective: Learn how Washington defeated the Hessian's at Trenton and the British at Princeton and learn why the American victory at Saratoga was a turning point in the war.
Due: extra credit
Class: Declaration Video reading (check out above link), Declaration of Independence quiz. Read and Class Drawings of Major Battles
Homework:

Friday: continue 8.2 "The Colonies at War"
Objective: Learn how European allies helped the Continental Army
Due:
Class: finish section 2, read and questions 1-4 on page 231, Week in Rap current events
Homework: finish page 231
